Monument Valley, Arizona/Utah - March, 2009.
My little sister and I took a road trip for spring break. We drove the 4 corners states, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah. We basically did a big circle through all four. We drove on Route 66, camped at the Grand Canyon, drove through the Painted Desert, Monument Valley, Moab, and Arches National Park, and crossed the Rockies twice. Monument Valley was gorgeous.
The vignettes on the corners were accidental: I forgot that I had both a UV and a polarizing filter on my lens, and with both filters on, you can't shoot wider than 25mm or so, or else this will happen. Oh well.

Colorado Springs, CO - March, 2006.
This is one of those 25 cent rent-a-binocular things up on Pike's Peak. I can understand the appeal of having these say, across from the Statue of Liberty or something, but there isn't really anything specific to look at from Pike's Peak. The beauty is that you can see everything.

Colorado Springs, CO - March, 2008.
One of the relatively unique things about the city of Colorado Springs, is the concentrated effort to make the architecture visually blend into the environment. Most of the buildings are painted in earth tones, and sky blue and evergreen accents are typical.

Minnesota Lightning

This was taken at Bethel University, during the first real summer thunderstorm of 2007. Lightning is one of my absolute favorite things to watch, and even more so, to photograph. Too bad good lightning conditions aren't terribly frequent.

House Tombs at Myra

Myra (Demre), Turkey - January, 2008.
This was one of the nicer ancient theaters we saw while we were in Turkey. (Probably the only ones that were nicer than the Myra theater were the Aspendos and Ephesus theaters.) I didn't use a tripod for this one, and I somehow managed to lose the second row of photos, so the top of the hill is cut off. I guess I'll just have to fly back someday for a re-do.

Horizontal Hurry

This was actually one of my first attempts at light trails. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I think the focus is off, and the surroundings are pretty boring. A product of the experiment I suppose.

A couple of minutes North of Duluth, I found this old can tucked away along the rocky shoreline. I almost didn't see it, because the rust camouflaged it pretty well against the basalt.
